Daniel Ricciardo says Renault made engine ‘statement’ at Italian GP

After heading the team’s best result because their entire yield at high speed Monza daniel Ricciardo reserved special praise for the engine department of Renault.
Ricciardo claimed his highest finish since joining the team, while Nico Hulkenberg matched his very best end for Renault with fifth after an Italian GP weekend in which their automobile consistently ran in the top .

Asked if they can now maintain such a level of functionality, Ricciardo responded:”I actually wish we can and hope we could.
“We are coming around various circuits – high-downforce Singapore, road circuit, hard – but even though this can be Monza and it’s exceptional and you take all of the wing away, I definitely think there is something we can nevertheless learn from that.”
Team manager Cyril Abiteboul described the weekend as”a demonstration following Montreal and Spa the very clear improvement of the team and specifically on the energy unit side that has been so openly criticised in the past”.
“It’s a demonstration that everything is liquid using a competitive package,” added the Frenchman. “It is also an invitation to repeat these kinds of feelings, if our period was far from a smooth ride up to now. Our drivers have shown what they could do using a competitive car.”
