England captain Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as they cruised to victory against Bulgaria in Wembley to keep their 100 percent record at Euro 2020 qualifying.
Gareth Southgate’s aspect made it three wins together with 14 goals scored, barely needing as they cleared another obstacle in their path to next summer’s showpiece to break sweat.
Kane and Raheem Sterling were deadly as England assembled momentum out of a low-key first 45 minutes.
The group joined to offer a guide when Sterling pounced on an error to set Kane for a finish on the turn up to England.
Kane scored England’s second in the spot four minutes the penalty awarded for the foul of Nikolay Bodurov on Marcus Rashford, then he crossed to bundle home for Sterling the third at the 55th minute.
Tottenham’s Kane completed his treble with a different spot-kick after he was hauled down from Kristian Dimitrov to carry his outstanding international listing to 25 targets from 40 appearances, with this his next hat-trick after achieving the same feat against Panama in the 2018 World Cup.
Southgate, with success was able to give a debut into the Mason Mount of Chelsea as England had the ideal preparation for the next qualifier from Kosovo.
Sterling and kane are going to claim the headlines for England so and more they are a pair of attackers operating on very top of the game.
Kane’s hat-trick takes him beyond England’s 1966 World Cup final hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst, who scored 24 goals in 49 appearances for the Three Lions.
Sterling set him up for his first and Kane reimbursed the glow their own partnership supplying an attacking weapon that will cause problems for many defences to Southgate and growing in stature, for England’s third.
Sterling’s pace was a constant threat to an admittedly very poor Bulgaria side however, in comparison with Kane, he was able to lift England by a bad first-half display on to a level which finally made it simply a matter of how many they’d score.
With what, to the surface, looks like a comfortable passage to Euro 2020 out of Group A england have been introduced – however the manner in has been quietly impressive.
England might have come at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and this summer Uefa Nations League Finals, however it seems a formality they will get another crack at ending the years of hurt in Euro 2020.
In reality, England and manager Gareth Southgate could hardly get asked for a much better draw compared to the one they have been given and it is hard to observe some of those teams in their group bothering them.
Is next 31, that, once more, the first serious test of their credentials, ambitions and progress may yet come in the Euros.
Southgate fit sharp for this, both with performances and by building a squad that may strike the ground running after the action begins at Euro 2020 and should make sure England are ready.
England may not have evaluations before so Southgate will have to use time and games wisely to assemble a squad that is eventually in form to get over the line once it matters.
England striker Harry Kane talking to ITV:”First half we have caught on the counter a couple of days , we stated at half-time we needed to try and come out and find an early goal and then that is what we did. It’s a result we aspire to consider Tuesday.
“It’s excellent for [Raheem Sterling] he’s taken his team form to international form, he is an awesome player. We like playing together, most of us do.”
England manager Gareth Southgate talking to ITV:”I believe it improved as the game went on. We didn’t have to over-complicate things. We looked dangerous, occasionally we took a few too many touches. Their formation caused us difficulties from ownership.
“In a game like this you’ve to make certain the concentration is right. I felt we had enough firepower. I am not sure it is complacency – every team is going to have some moments, you merely have to make certain to find the runs – but I am generally happy. A few of our attacking play was very exciting.”
