Gareth Bale needs help from Wales team-mates, says Tom Lawrence

Gareth Bale needs his Wales team-mates to”chip in and help the group”, based on forwards Tom Lawrence.
After weeks of uncertainty over his potential, Bale ended a drought stretching back on March 16 using a brace in the 2-2 La Liga of Real Madrid draw on Sunday, even though Wales’ talisman was then sent off in stoppage time.
The 30-year-old will place his team obligations on pause as he looks to guide Wales however, they are just three adrift of Slovakia and Croatia at the race for a top-two spot and track leaders Hungary by six points at Group E.
Ryan Giggs was boosted by the fact that Bale, Daniel James and Harry Wilson have been one of the targets at club level this season and Lawrence believes his team-mates will need to become more supportive of Bale.
Lawrence explained:”We can’t leave it all down to Gareth himself, other players have got to chip in and help the team.
“There’s some people pushing to get a beginning on Friday and we will all be looking forward to getting around the pitch.
“If he (Bale) is enjoying he is one of the world’s greatest. Is a bonus.
“It always helps when you’re playing games. When you are not match-fit it’s never easy to come play games.”
Lawrence has extra motivation because he missed out in Euro 2016 when Wales reached the and qualified for their first tournament to achieve next year’s contest.
Ankle ligaments tore having been a part of the pre-tournament coaching group in Portugal.
He said:”It was a difficult time. You are excited about visiting the Euros and therefore to be stopped by an accident is never good.
“I would love to play at a major tournament. It had been my main learning curve in dealing with that and missing the Euros.
“Since then I’ve come on a very long way. It would be great to have in there again.”
Wales face Azerbaijan in their next Euro 2020 qualifier on Friday prior to a friendly against Belarus in Cardiff three days after, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
