Lakers Overtake Clippers as 2020 NBA Title Favorites at Bovada

After a whirlwind offseason, the Los Angeles Clippers opened as the favorites to win the 2020 NBA title. When you take a look at the 2020 NBA Championship chances at this time, it is the Lakers who have moved to the favorite’s role.
Which group is your best bet at this point?
* Odds as of 12/08/2019.
Once Kawhi Leonard made his decision to sign with the Clippers instead of the Lakers, the Purple and Gold needed to move quickly to round out the roster. The moves they’ve made are likely what has pushed them ahead in terms of the gaming chances (even though the Clippers remain preferred at +350 at BetOnline).
The Lakers picked up Danny Green, Quinn Cook, Troy Daniels, Jared Dudley, Avery Bradley and DeMarcus Cousins. They now have a lineup of players that can spot up around the arc, and that’s vital. Given LeBron James’ ability to break down defenses, the cast should include strong perimeter shooting.
The signing of Cousins was also a shrewd pickup, as he did not cost the team very much and has a upside down. Cousins had an up and down year with the Warriors however is a former All-Star. As a cheap beginner or a bench guy who can step into begin and give Anthony Davis nights away, this is a fantastic pickup.
The struggle using overhauling a roster is that we don’t understand how the pieces will fit together. Ordinarily, it’s not something that you worry about with James as he elevates the play of everyone around him. But that didn’t happen last time as the group collapsed.
It’s very probable that James makes men love Green, Bradley, Cousins, Rondo and Daniels improve. At exactly the same moment, when this group is the odds-on preferred, you have to be considering the downside risk and there is some here.
Don’t forget that there’s an entirely new coaching team. That adds to the element of doubt. For these reasons, I would not bet on this group to win all of it. At this price.
The Clippers look like a better chance to win it as they have a lot more roster consistency. Not only will be head coach Doc Rivers back, but this is a group that brings forth Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell, who had been the core of last year’s unit. Landry Shamet and Ivica Zubac spent half of the season with the group.
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are leading defensive players and with Beverley, you just know this group will be a lock-down unit defensively. With all the Lakers, that side of the courtroom gets you wonder.
Of both Los Angeles teams, I’d earlier bet the Clippers than the Lakers.
Two groups whom I enjoy are both at +800: the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers.
The Rockets have two MVP-caliber gamers Russell Westbrook along with James Harden. And remember , they nearly beat the Golden State Warriors at every one of the last two years from the play with Chris Paul. How much better are they with Westbrook? They also made good motions, acquiring Austin Rivers and Tyson Chandler.
As for the 76ers, they’re a bit of a wild card but within my mind, they have the best starting lineup in the Eastern Conference. This was a group that was a basket off from beating the Toronto Raptors at Game 7 of their next round of the match.
The Western Conference playoffs will be a gauntlet while the East is far easier. Philadelphia might be good enough to beat whomever they face, but with a much easier path to the final is vital to winning this prop. That’s why I like Philadelphia in +800, as well.
Let us have fun and keep it civil.
