Saturday’s Week 2 NFL Preseason Trifecta

After checking out the NFL chances board, I discovered that the line on this match had tumbled from Patriots -3 to where it now stands, at the Friday morning writing, to Patriots -1. Most of us know how crucial the number three is in football and anytime the amount goes from it, I get suspicious, particularly in preseason play. The Pats destroyed the Lions 31-3 last week in their preseason opener and it wouldn’t surprise me a bit to view Belichick tinker with the game program to see how his troops perform under unique conditions. There is nothing the training legend loves more than a hybrid, a participant who is called upon to perform many jobs and assume various roles. This game smacks of the perfect period for New England to start experimenting so financing a group like the Titans within our NFL selections is the smart move here. Grab the small number with Tennessee in your home.

Betting preseason football is always a bit of a roll of the dice however there are a couple of trends we can sniff out that will give us a lean one way or the other. Perhaps chief among those are the training records that could indicate how significant a head coach views losses and wins in the exhibition period. Look no further than Detroit’s Matt Patricia who possesses a 1-4 preseason record versus Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien who appears to put great import on Week two of the preseason background using a 4-1 mark in these competitions. Furthermore, Detroit might have to rely on former San Jose State, and also sixth-round choose of the 2014 draft, David Fales as well as newly signed journeyman Josh Johnson to lead the assault with No. 1 backup Tom Savage in the sidelines courtesy of a possible concussion suffered in last week’s loss to New England. This doesn’t work well for Detroit and thus we’ll place our dough on the Texans.
Final Score: Texans 27 — Lions 17

Both these clubs failed to get the endzone last week as Dallas lost 17-9 into the 49ers while the Rams dropped 14-3 to the Raiders. But once again, something smells a little fishy in this as the Rams started as three-point house favorites but today the Cowboys are derived from 2 to 2 1/2 point road chalk. The big names on either side won’t find much if any action within this meaningless preseason tilt but that I would not be surprised to find that the Cowboys emerging victorious, or at least covering the amount in what’s shaping up to be a close contest. The Rams are 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games along with the Cowboys are looking to put emphasis in their running attack today that it appears like Ezekiel Elliot is intent on pulling out on a Le’Veon Bell this year and sit until he gets exactly what he desires. This looks like a ground-and-pound matchup and because Dallas needs to know what they have in the backfield, expect them to utilize their primary backs more than the Rams. Todd Gurley will not see the area and that’s fantastic news for the Boys.
Final rating: Cowboys 17 — Rams 14
