Tyrone Mings praises John Terry’s influence ahead of possible England debut

Tyrone Mings has praised the effect John Terry has had on his development since a possible England introduction is prepared for by the Aston Villa defender.
Mings was called up into the England squad for the first time by Gareth Southgate before their Qualifiers double-header from Bulgaria and Kosovo at Wembley.
The 26-year-old has been working with England and Chelsea captain Terry – now director at Villa Park – since January.
Mings’ loan spell with Villa was made permanent and he feels Terry has been a vital effect on him.
“He has developed my game for sure,” explained Mings.
“I have been blessed to work with some really good coaches over the years – [former Ipswich manager ] Mick McCarthy; [Bournemouth director ] Eddie Howe; [Villa boss] Dean Smith.
“John Terry is another terrific example of someone I can learn from, that has been there and achieved everything I’d want to attain in the sport.
“To learn from him and take small pieces of information from him is something that I feel really fortunate to be in a position to perform.
“We do a lot of work on reviewing and clips my performances. So I feel like I am in a excellent location and I have a excellent mentor to learn from.”
Mings he can gauge by how men and women are speaking about him, how good a match he’s had have been advised by terry.
“He attempts to tell me to go through a match without being seen without being mentioned,” added Mings.
“He says that is a good reflection of a centre-back’s performance – should they are off the pitch and no one really knows what they have done and they’ve quietly gone about their organization. So that is.
“Following a game we will see clips of the game back and he’ll then tell me exactly what he likes and what he doesn’t like.
“He has worked under such fantastic managers and he’s obviously got all the experience that I would love to get, so things he tells me actually stick and we then attempt to execute that on the practice pitch and work through different matters.
“He offers me a little bit of criticism but at the moment it is a good deal of positivity.”
